Celia Palmer

Auckland, New Zealand
Bio
Celia Palmer is a palliative care physician currently working as Clinical Leader for Hospice West Auckland. She is also a trained in General Practice and Public Health Medicine.
Her career in medicine was unconventional from the start having left school with qualifications only in History, English and Latin. Her early work in medicine included running a mobile health clinic in rural India, coordinating services for a refugee camp in Uganda and researching reproductive health in war zones.
Her career took a turn for the mundane after she (to the surprise of all) got married, moved to NZ where she continued to work in public health medicine whilst bringing up her two daughters. She was surprised to find herself in her present leadership role facing a global pandemic and desperately trying to remember her public health skills and knowledge.
